Fifth grade artists at Columbia and Sunrise are utilizing a Grid Drawing Technique practiced in the Middle Ages and Renaissance Time to draw correct Proportions of the Art Subject. The students are learning to SEE and OBSERVE square by square the correct PROPORTIONS of their Royal Playing Card!
I call it Seeing the 3 S's in RELATIONSHIP to each other: Seeing the SHAPE, Seeing its SIZE, Seeing its position in the SPACE.
It is a PROCESS for training the eye and hand to draw more accurately. The students are LOVING it! (as measured by their comments!)
