Here I am in front of my near life size Portrait of "JO". This young friend of mine posed for me so I could do a life size portrait of her in the art medium of Pastel chalks. This was my entry into this school year's Faculty/Staff Art Exhibit at our school district's Central Office Art Gallery Space.

Hello! Hola! My husband, Timothy and our son, Nathan, celebrating Timothy's birthday last December. We are about to get on the High Roller ride in Las Vegas, Nevada!
My name is Cynthia Balderson Smith. Currently, I teach elementary art at Sunrise and Columbia Elementary Schools in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I teach 37 art classes for grades Kindergarten- 5th.
I LOVE kids and I LOVE ART. I feel like the luckiest person in the art world!
A SHORT BIO: I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1979 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with emphasis in drawing and painting. I have extensive post graduate experience in a variety of art media and teaching settings. I ran a successful art restoration business for several years. I have worked as a free lance artist out of my home studios while raising two wonderful young adults (doesn't that sound like a proud mother?) along with my husband, Timothy Smith. This year we are fortunate to be celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary.
Daughter Adrianne Smith Kleckner and her husband, Seth, live in Lakewood, Washington along with our granddaughter, Zoey Ellyn and Grandma Donna. Adie will begin her full- time faculty teaching post at Pierce College in Puyallup, Washington, teaching English this fall. Congratulations, Adie! Son, Nathanael Smith lives in Las Vegas, Nevada employing his Army EOD skills working with a contractor with the U.S. Air Force.
